Welcome to my website! My name is Sandy Verhoeve. I moved to Brussels in January 2023. Until then I worked as a Digital Officer at the Netherlands Embassy in Washington DC at the Public Diplomacy, Press, and Culture department. I was responsible for the embassy’s social media communication on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Flickr (@NLintheUSA). Before moving to the US in 2018 I lived four years in Vienna, Austria, where I founded my company SAVE MEDIA CONTENT and started working as a freelance multimedia journalist. Previously I was a senior editor at the Dutch national broadcaster NOS.

Multimedia

As a freelance videographer, photographer, writer and editor I worked in Austria, the Netherlands, and the US for clients like the Dutch national broadcaster NOS, the Dutch national news agency ANP, and for Zoomin.tv, the number one multi-channel network in online television. I worked for AD.nl, the biggest daily newspaper in the Netherlands, and I was hired by the Netherlands Red Cross, VRTAmsterdam Rotary, Hague TalksLINDA., Wintersport Magazinethe Embassy of the Netherlands in Austria and the Embassy of the Netherlands in the US.

News

I spent an important part of my working career at the Dutch national broadcaster NOS. As the largest news organization of the Netherlands, NOS offers round-the-clock reporting on news, current affairs, sports and national and international events. Here I worked from 1999 till 2014 as a senior editor at the Foreign Desk for internet and television. I supervised a team of 20 editors producing online content for www.nos.nl and writing text for Teletekst.

Social Media

I’m on Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn and I manage a YouTube channel.

VIDEO, FILM & photography

In Vienna I took extra courses in camera, audio, light, video editing, scriptwriting and directing at the Filmschule Wien. I made the short movie Äffchen, which was screened at Urania Kino during the Dutch Film Days Vienna. My second short film Pilot was screened in my hometown Leiden. I also took classes photography at the FotoSchule Wien. We focussed on light, camera technique, still life, portrait, landscape, architecture, street photography, Lightroom and Photoshop.

International Relations & languages

I studied Spanish Language and Literature and International Relations at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. I speak English, German, Spanish, Dutch and French.

FUN FACT

My husband and I own a great little apartment in the Austrian Alps. We call it Haus FÖN, which stands for Freundschaft Österreich Niederlande. It’s an absolute Geheimtipp in summer and winter and the good news is… our Haus FÖN is for rent!
