Welcome to my company website!
My name is Sandy Verhoeve.
I’m a Dutch multimedia journalist.
I work in Washington DC as a freelance videographer, photographer, writer and editor, producing stories for multiple clients. As a video journalist I film and edit videos for the Dutch national news agency ANP and for Zoomin.tv, the number one multi-channel network in online television. Previously I worked for AD.nl, the biggest daily newspaper in the Netherlands. In 2018 I was hired by Netherlands Red Cross, for a multimedia project in Aruba. I also worked for VRT, Amsterdam Rotary, Hague Talks, LINDA., Wintersport Magazine, Winq Magazine and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Austria.
I spent an important part of my working career at the Dutch national broadcaster NOS.
As the largest news organization of the Netherlands, NOS offers round-the-clock reporting on news, current affairs, sports and national and international events. Here I worked from 1999 till 2014 as a senior editor at the Foreign Desk for internet and television, writing and editing texts and producing news videos.
I lived in Vienna, Austria, from 2013 until 2017. My blog for the popular Dutch magazine LINDA. resulted in the publication of a book: Wereldwijven (women of the world). Inspired by the success of the book, our network of more than 100 female Dutch bloggers from all over the world launched an online platform: www.dewereldwijven.com. It’s our aim to inform, inspire and empower women. Now I work for this platform as a writer and a video coach.
Film and photography
In Vienna I took extra courses in camera, audio, light, video editing, scriptwriting and directing at the Filmschule Wien. I made the short movie Äffchen, which was screened at Urania Kino during the Dutch Film Days Vienna. My second short film Pilot was screened in my hometown Leiden. I also took classes photography at the FotoSchule Wien. We focussed on light, camera technique, still life, portrait, landscape, architecture, street photography, Lightroom and Photoshop.
I studied Spanish Language and Literature and International Relations at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. I speak English, German, Spanish, Dutch and some French.
I love skiing and hiking. My husband and I own a great little apartment in the Austrian Alps. We call it Haus FÖN, which stands for Freundschaft Österreich Niederlande. It’s an absolute Geheimtipp in summer and winter and the good news is… our Haus FÖN is for rent!
